Artist's Model

I will be taking part in "Small Sizes - Precious Pieces", an exhibit of Representational Paintings and Sculpture at the Sherry French Gallery, November 26th through January 3rd, 2009. I will be showing small paintings from my September trip to Monhegan Island, Maine. I spent a week in a rented converted "fish house" with five other painting friends. The painting shown above is "Artist's Model" (5 x 7). Carla Tudor, one of our painting trip members, was captivated by the gulls in front of our house, and I loved the way she looked in her painting hat.

I just sent these two new paintings to the Sherry French Gallery for the "Mainly Maine" show which runs from September 3rd through September 27th. I won't be at the reception this time because I will be on Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine, working on a new series of paintings. This will be the second time I've gone to the island with painting friends Nancy Bea Miller, Alex Tyng and Diana Ainsley. We're being joined this year by Carla Tudor and Mary Walsh. It should be a great trip.

My New York Opening

Last weekend, an exhibit of my latest work opened in New York at the Sherry French Gallery. The opening was a lot of fun and thanks to all my friends who made it to New York - and special thanks to Fred Danziger , a friend and wonderful artist who also shows at Sherry French, for taking photographs, including this one. Next month, my friend Nancy Bea Miller will be the featured artist at Sherry French, with an opening on June 7th from 1 to 4.
