This year I was invited to take part in the Main Line Art Center's Fine Art Sale and Preview Party. Five paintings are included in the show and "Irises in June" was featured on the invitation. This is a wonderful event, and I am pleased to be able to help raise money for a fabulous local resource. The Preview Party is April 15th, and the show continues through May 25th.

I am delighted to be included in "Water As the Source", a juried exhibition at The Alumni Gallery, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. The show runs from April 29th through July 17 with an opening reception on May 6th, from 5:30 to 6:30. The painting I will be showing is "Popham Beach in Winter". Popham is a beautiful and popular beach near Bath, Maine. On the January day that I walked the beach, it was below zero degrees and very windy. The empty beach was intensely quiet except for the sound of the wind in the dried grasses on the dunes. It was incredibly beautiful.

I will be showing three new paintings in the "Flowers in February" show at the Sherry French Gallery, February 4th through the 28th. The gallery is located on the 13th floor at 601 West 26th Street, New York NY. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, February 7th, from 1 to 4. Come in out of the cold and enjoy this show which includes some gorgeous new work by some of my friends including Nancy Bea Miller, Fred Danziger and Carolyn Edlund.

The painting I have included here is called Japanese Iris. I visited a friend's summer place in New Jersey last June. There was lovely pond there, with this lush clump of irises growing at the edge of the water.

Artist's Model

I will be taking part in "Small Sizes - Precious Pieces", an exhibit of Representational Paintings and Sculpture at the Sherry French Gallery, November 26th through January 3rd, 2009. I will be showing small paintings from my September trip to Monhegan Island, Maine. I spent a week in a rented converted "fish house" with five other painting friends. The painting shown above is "Artist's Model" (5 x 7). Carla Tudor, one of our painting trip members, was captivated by the gulls in front of our house, and I loved the way she looked in her painting hat.
